Shop Front Fascia

L/Os:

To understand what a shop front fascia is
To begin to develop your design ideas for a shop front fascia
To develop Adobe Illustrator skills

Starter - 10 minutes:

Over the next few lessons, you will be designing a fascia for your takeaway company. A fascia is a 'banner' for your shop front. Look at these examples and answer the following questions:

  • Can you describe the fascia? What makes up the fascia itself (remember that this is only the top part of the shop front)?
  • Can you identify the target audience for each one? Which designs would appeal to your target audience of teenagers?
  • Can you highlight key features which make the fascia appealing to teenagers?

Main Tasks - 45 minutes:

Your fascia must:

  • Be 4000 mm x 750 mm maximum, but it does not have to be rectangular
  • Include a coloured background
  • Include the logo
  • Include the name of the shop
  • Include a phone number and web address

So... Remember which elements make the fascia more appealing to teenagers... Apply this to your own design... Analyse and compare your design against the professional designs... Test this using peer feedback... And finally, amend your designs!
