Loading Screen

L/O 1 - To continue to develop your knowledge of primary and secondary images
L/O 2 - To continue to improve your graphic skills
L/O 3 - To continue to develop your assets for your game

Red - You will have updated your assets table
Amber - You will have created the sprite for your main character
Green - You will have added backgrounds, sprites and buttons to your game

Intro - 5 minutes

As you are logging on, have a go at unscrambling the Photoshop Tools for an eRef!

Starter - 5 minutes


  1. Using Task 2: Success Criteria give three positive features of the three loading screens pictured
  2. Which would you improve and why?
  3. Try to use some of the adjectives on the sheet if you can... Or use your own!


Main - 45 minutes

RED TASK

Make a rough sketch of how you would like your loading screen to look using Task 2: Quick Design

AMBER TASK

Create your loading screen using the instructions under Task 3: Final Design
**Remember to use the correct measurements**

Use these tutorials to help you:

 

GREEN TASK

Add your loading screen to GameMaker using Task 4: Adding to GameMaker
Create another sprite for your game:

  • Remember it has to be either 32x32 or 64x64 or 96x96 pixels
  • Save a copy as a .ai
  • Save a second copy as a .png


Click the red pacman button to create new sprites in Gamemaker and load in what you have made

EXT TASK

Add more backgrounds to your game (as PNG files) and create buttons to ensure that you can navigate to and from each of the relevant screens (using tutorials below)


Mini-Plenary - 2 minutes

Using Task 5: Peer Feedback, get feedback from a peer


Plenary - 3 minutes

Make sure that you save your characters/screens in Sites --> DA204 SPB --> Products --> Game
Update your Assets table to include your sprites made in today's lesson
