Gaming screens, objects and buttons

L/O1 -To understand how to create a button in GameMaker so that you can set up a menu system for your game

L/O2 - To understand what testing is and appreciate it's importance

Red - You will have chosen a suitable game template

Amber - You will have added backgrounds to your rooms
Green - You will have added buttons to make your game interface work

Starter


Download a Game Template below and save into your GAME folder inside DA204SPB

Main


RED TASK

Save a second copy of each of your screens as a PNG
Open your GameMaker template
Use the Create a Background button to load your screens into the game


For each room set the correct background


AMBER TASK

Create each sprite to be either 32x32 or 32x64 pixels
Save a copy as a .ai
Save a second copy as a .png


GREEN TASK

Using what you have learnt in today's lesson and using the video below if you need a reminder, load all of your screens into the game and create a set of working buttons



Plenary

  • Download the 4 parts of the Development Log  by clicking HERE
  • Save them in Sites --> DA204SPB --> Evidence --> Development Log
  • Copy and paste your rules from rules log into the formative testing section
  • Test your game to see if your buttons work correctly - record your results in the development log and fix any problems
