Pseudocode and Factory Balls

L/O 1 - To develop your understanding of the term 'pseudocode'

L/O 2 - To be able to apply sequencing skills using pseudocode and interactive resources

Outcome - You will write some pseudocode for Level 1 of Factory Balls and then go on to complete as many levels as you can using your developed sequencing skills

Starter - 10 minutes

Using the blank paper, complete the Algorithm Game worksheet following the instructions closely

There are two ways of presenting Algorithms - 1) flowcharts (which we covered a few lessons back) and 2) pseudocode

Pseudocode lays out the algorithm as a series of instructions written in English like my example in front of you!

As shown, when writing instructions you have to be more specific!

Today you are going to try writing your own pseudocode! There will be Gold eRefs for the best code!

Main Tasks - 40 minutes

Task 1

Create your own pseudocode for someone to complete
If you are stuck, perhaps you could write some pseudocode for drawing a human face?!

Task 2

1. Complete the pseudocode worksheet in front of you

HINT:
If ball is orange then
      wrap in black tape
else
dip ball in orange paint
then wrap in black tape

2. Add your pseudocode steps to the Unit 1 Evidence Document - click HERE to download

Task 3

1. Open Factory Balls by clicking here
2. See how far you can get!

Extension Task

Try some more coding HERE

Mini-Plenary - 5 minutes

Swap pseudocode with someone else and have a go at completing each others
Give each other 2 Stars and a wish feedback

Plenary - 5 minutes

  1. Take a screenshot of the level you are on
  2. Paste it into your evidence document
  3. Explain the screenshot like so:

Homework: Collect outstanding homework from last week - Task 3 in Booklet (flowchart for making a cup of tea)
