Levels of Challenge

L/Os: To develop and test your game in order to meet the SPB criteria 

Outcome: You will make changes to your game which include some advanced features. You will update all documents, including your Test Plan.

Starter - 10 minutes


Can you work out what the icon in front of you does and how it may help improve the originality and creativity of your game? How does this help with addressing audience and purpose?


  1. Create Path 
  2. Move to different room 
  3. Set Full screen 
  4. Set lives 
  5. Test variable 
  6. Test lives 

User Experience --> Out of 7 marks 

•For 3 marks – the degree of playability and interactivity of the game demonstrates some awareness of purpose 

•For 5 /7 marks - the degree of playability, interactivity and originality of the game demonstrates good/sound awareness of purpose

Look at your tasks for today ... How are you going to ensure that you make progress? Write TWO things you would like to achieve by the end of the lesson on your blog/post-it note.

Main Tasks - 40 minutes

Continuing to develop your game using tutorials on missprymill.co.uk 
First level complete

Continuing to develop your game using at least one of the advanced features of GameMaker (see my playlist of tutorials below)
Second level complete

Testing your game so far and updating the Test Plan 
Third level complete

Extension Task: Next we will look at adding sound (track and effects). Blog about 1) which genre of music will suit your target audience 2) which software you could use to create an original soundtrack. Could you try using Button Bass and Audacity or similar??



**Greens and Golds for progress and GameMaker Experts**

Mini-Plenary - 5 minutes

  1. Swap seats with a Test Buddy. Where would you mark them?
  2. Can you swap your colour?? How are you going to progress to the next colour??

Plenary - 5 minutes

Blog about what you have achieved this lesson and swap colours one last time. Do you need to attend catch up clinics?? Add dates to your planners!!
