Adobe Illustrator - Developing Skills

To develop your graphics skills

To develop and test your design log according to the SPB requirements 

Outcome - a design log has been started and tested against the requirements and a new technique learnt using Adobe Illustrator tutorials in YouTube / Experts


Starter - 10 minutes

  • Look at the tasks for today's lesson below
  • Using your blog or a post-it note, add TWO targets that you would personally like to set and complete by the end of the lesson (keep your blog open for the end of the lesson) **one of these could be to learn a new skill/technique in Adobe Illustrator**
  • Look at the YouTube Playlist below to help you master one new Illustrator technique

Main - 40 minutes


Develop your Hero and Villain designs to include:

  • cut lines
  • fold lines
  • areas to be glued

Get feedback from a peer and add re-designs to Design Log
Using the Design Log, describe HOW you made your nets in the chosen software




Extension Tasks: 
Print your nets in colour, assemble and produce photographs from different angles

Use Word to write some detailed instructions on how to assemble your 3D Character


**Greens and Golds for progress / 'Experts'!!!**

Mini-Plenary - 5 minutes

  1. Swap designs with a Test Buddy
  2. Using your 3D character nets in Adobe Illustrator (Hero/Villain - whichever one) write feedback for each other into the Design Log under the correct image - remember to check that they have met the requirements here: http://www1.edexcel.org.uk/DA203_1309/SPB/Index.htm
  3. Swap back and make improvements

Plenary - 5 minutes

  1. Review your blog post/post-it from the starter task - did you achieve your personal targets?
  2. Can you swap your coloured cards?
  3. How did you use the feedback given?
  4. What have you achieved this lesson?
  5. BLOG IT!!
