Year 8 Project

L/Os:

To formulate and pitch your ideas for this year's project

To understand why planning your project is important in real life

Outcome - your idea is planned and pitched and you leave the lesson knowing what you're going to do next week.

Starter - 15 min

You work for a Media Design Company and you have been approached by a client to produce a short film / animation and website to promote their local venture. You must first plan and pitch your ideas.

You may work in small groups to plan and film but any work you produce must be your own and individual.

It is up to you to come up with these ideas. You could be producing a film and website to promote:

  • a local charity in your area
  • a small business or venture in your local area
  • an issue which is pertinent to your school
  • a topic of your choice but your teacher must agree it and may 'tweak it'
The choice is yours, you can choose your audience but your ideas must be meaningful and appropriate.

Main - 45 min

Using what ever resources you have around you, you must plan and pitch your idea to your teacher and your group. It may be that your idea is great but needs a little refinement.

What makes a good pitch ? What makes good team work? (remember your Apps taster lesson)

(Dragon's Den, The Apprentice videos)

Plenary - 5 min

BLOG: Next lesson you will be writing your proposal - what will you need to think about - what is a proposal?
